Our church started a bible study this fall that I chose not to attend due to the busyness of our lives this season. It was a tough decision to make because I really enjoy studying the Bible with the ladies at our church and, sadly, I need the accountability to stay in God's Word. Like I wrote in a previous post or two, I can't wrap my mind around why I allow myself to put other things before God when my life, and the lives of those around me, reap the benefits when I am actively seeking and nurturing a relationship with Christ. It is like I am running through a briar patch barefoot and holding a perfectly good pair of shoes. Put the shoes on Jennifer, for goodness sakes, and save yourself some pain. Not that you get some quick fix to all of life's many challenges when you start reading through Proverbs and the book of John but my perspective of those challenges is totally transformed when I read the truths in the Bible.
I was reading a friend's blog the other night and was lead to a link for an online bible study with the topic of A Wife's Biblical Submission by studying Proverbs 31. I really felt like God lead me to find this study. I have read a book or two on what it looks like to be a woman/wife after God's heart and a couple of the bible studies I have attended in the past have touched on the subject but I really don't believe I have ever truly grasped what it really means to be a biblically submissive wife. Growing up, I didn't know what the Bible had to say about priorities and submission. There is a divine order that should be followed, in this order - God, spouse, children, homemaking and ministry**. The world places different values on these things... sometimes no value at all. We are all bombarded with worldly views and values- on tv, at work, in advertisements, media, literature, etc. It is easy to start believing the lies they have to offer. This is one of the many reasons to read the Bible and pray without ceasing. The world offers death - spiritual death, for sure - and the Word offers life - in the present and eternal.
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24)

Oh, I'm so glad you are joining in on the bible study! I've only been participating for 3-4 weeks now and it has really opened my eyes to some things that I would have never seen without it! Sunny is wonderful as well. I found the study at a point in my life where I really felt God had lead me to it as well. I can already see the change in my marriage just from the few things that I've started to work on so far.
Hope you are a having a wonderful day!
Sweet sister Jen!
I'm so grateful that the Lord brought us together this way...through an internet Bible Study! God is always waaaay ahead of us, isn't He?! He's simply brilliant!!!
Please know that although we're all hundreds, thousands and even for some, oceans a part, I'm here as a "live" Bible Study leader and consider it an honor to pray for you specifically and also to counsel with you privately.
Many sisters like to email me personally for things that really ought not be shared over the internet as it may bring dishonor to God by demeaning our husbands in some way.
Anyway, I just wanted to stop by to say "WELCOME" (I see our sweet sister Dusty beat me to it! :-) )and let you know that I'm adding you to the Participants' List right now!
Bless you dear sister, I truly look forward to getting to know you better!
Sunny

God Bless
Tanya
I am so glad you are here, girl. Be prepared to encounter God and never want to turn away again. You said it, "The world offers death - spiritual death, for sure - and the Word offers life - in the present and eternal."
The ways of God's order and Biblical submission have unlocked a key to a room I never want to leave. I'll be praying you will find the same...I already know that you will. God bless you and welcome!
Thanks for stopping by Jen. Looking forward to getting to know you more, too.
