And, aside from Joshua's and her own, her first birthday party ever! A sweet little Guillaume from her class last year invited her to his home for his 4th birthday party. He is one of 5, soon to be 6, delightful little children. His mother and I have been passing each other with our strollers and backpacks and kids for the past six months but just met formally last week at her home. It was lots of fun to talk to her - entirely in french! She was patient with me and helpful when I needed a vocabulary word. I am hopeful we can get together again and play. I am far from fluent but I have enough vocabulary words at this point to safely hold a five year old like conversation with someone as long as we talk about kids, where we are from or where our husbands work. I can't believe I am saying this but it is actually fun now to strike up a conversation with a french person and I am looking forward to hopefully meeting many new french friends.
