The Best Weekend in France Thus Far...

and the highlights weren't a weekend in the Pyrenees (although that was pretty awesome) but this past weekend was full of family time, friends and lots of food.

The month of May is full of holidays in France so the kids and Freddie have had the past two Fridays off from school and work. We had our good friends, Matthew and Kim Cabe, over for dinner Friday night and had the best time, as always. My thoughtful husband bought me the most spectacular Mother's Day gift.. a new SLR Nikon D60 camera! So the family and I had an outing on Saturday to McDonalds (of course!), Place de Jaude and Square Amadeo. The kids were able to run around and be wild and crazy then the girls and I strolled around the park while Joshua and Freddie threw the baseball. I experimented with my new gift and was able to forever capture those special moments we had together. We had a sweet French family over for dinner on Sunday and enjoyed swedish meatballs while practicing our french and their english. It was a great weekend and I think it may have been the turning point.. the proverbial "hump" or "corner" that you must get over or turn and then, voila, vous adorez la France!

The flowers there are spectacular!!! BUT they are dull compared to the beauty of Sophia and Emily!

Your pictures captured the beautiful children and spectacular flowers. Great Gift Freddie! Were those giant tulips? Awesome.

Thanks y'all! I *think* those flowers were daffodils.. but, yes, whatever they were they were of the giant variety... They were almost as tall as Sophia (although, thanks to the short gene she inherited from me, that isn't saying much!). The tulips were actually dying.. a week or two earlier and they were spectacular.
